WNBA Finals Game 5: Parker Sparks LA Sparks to Victory!

Candace Parker's double double with a game high 28 points and 12 rebounds helped lead the Los Angeles Sparks to their third WNBA Championship title while hugging the nameless piece of silver & gold hardware for her first time in her eight seasons in the WNBA!  Parker saved her best game for the last game of the 2016 season playing a Cannamazing game on both ends of the court to also gain her the Most Valuable Player of the series.

Parker would receive just enough support from her teammates to set-up the champagne celebration even though early foul trouble to three of the starters plagued the team in the first half.  League MVP, Nneka Ogwumike who sat most of the first half with foul trouble also finished the game with a double double 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Alana Beard enjoying her first championship in her 12 year career was solid all series playing tenacious defense against the Minnesota Lynx.  Chelsea Gray, hands down the series top reserve brought her "A" game again as she hit timely shots contributing 11 points and controlled the tempo over the smaller Lynx guards.

The Minnesota Lynx played their best floor game of the series by limiting their turnovers to single digits and spreading the ball around on offense for 25 assists compared to the Sparks 14.  Maya Moore's 23 points 11 assists led the Lynx who had three other players score double digits.  Seimone Augustus finished with 17 points, Lindsay Whalen and Sylvia Fowles each had 10 points and the Sparks kept Fowles under control on the boards limiting her to only 9.

Rebounds and fast break points were the difference in the final game of the well played five game series. The Los Angeles Sparks won the rebound battle 33-27 while out scoring the Lynx 15-5 on fast break points.

Their was a controversial play with about 1:14 remaining in the game when the Los Angeles Sparks, Nneka Ogwumike scored a basket on a shot clock violation, but the play was not reviewed by officials in time to over turn the basket.  The Los Angeles Sparks win 77-76 in a thriller Game 5!

The 2016 WNBA Finals was exciting, thrilling, and Cannamazing for the basketball fans worldwide to view and enjoy... We watched them WORK!

Moore's 31 Leads Lynx to Victory!

All-Star, Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx kept her team's hopes alive to repeat as WNBA Champions last night at Staples Center as the Lynx outplayed the Sparks to force a decisive Game 5 to be played back in Minnesota.

Moore scored a game high 31 points while shooting over 50% from the field with 11-14 from the charity stripe and snagged nine rebounds in the 85-79 must win. Moore was joined by three other teammates scoring  double digits.  Seimone Augustus contributed 12 plus dished five dimes and Lindsay Whalen added 13. Sylvia Fowles controlled the boards for 13 rebounds along with her 10 points as the Lynx out rebounded the Sparks 41-25.

The Los Angeles Sparks was led in scoring by reserve guard Chelsea Gray's 20 points while it was a frustrating night for Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike finishing with 14 and 11 points on 9-24 from the field and only 4 times combined to the charity stripe for both superstars! Alana Beard added 11 points and Kristi Toliver tossed in 15 points on 4 of 6 from three point range.

The momentum has swung back in the favor of the defending champions as the Lynx head back to Minnesota to prepare to lace up the sneakers one more time Thursday night, to become back to back WNBA Champions!

Game 5 tips off Thursday, October 20th at 8pm EST on ESPN2.

The Cannabis Buddy-Buddy System

After having an inside up close observation of the Cannabis Industry for the past three years, it can be safely written there is definitely a ‘buddy-buddy’ system in the billion dollar industry.  There are many comments about the disparity in the Cannabis Industry from prominent voices, but the changes have not transcended into the industry.  The trend seems to be you must be connected with someone who is connected to another source to gain access to operate, produce events, and definitely to receive sponsorship in the Cannabis Industry!  Due to this ‘buddy-buddy’ type of system, it magnifies the absence of minorities achieving success in the industry therefor making the ‘black market’ rise even more.

The Cannabis Industry has already been tagged as an industry not for African Americans and Latinos.  The playing field for operating businesses and services in the industry is not the same for minorities opposed to Caucasians in the industry.

The major most recognized disparity is sponsorship from established companies and private investors to minority owned Cannabis businesses or services.  However, if you are a minority with celebrity-like status you are a commodity for the Caucasian market to capitalize on your popularity to the public in order to brand their products and services.

Challenges for the minority Cannabis entrepreneurs will continue unless we are able to join the existing ‘buddy-buddy’ system or organize our own, ‘Black & Brown buddy-buddy’ system.  There are a number of expert cultivators/farmers, chefs, extractors, and technology savvy people from the minority communities, who are excelling in the industry who would be able to do more with support from sponsors and more importantly the TRUST to operate a successful business!  The Cannabis plant produces enough resources for all on this earth to share and enjoy respectfully!

If the Cannabis Industry is ONE, then show support to all involved in the Cannabis Industry making a positive impact to all communities through education, awareness and advocacy.

WNBA Finals Game 3: Sparks Payback Lynx with Big Win!

Candace Parker and league MVP, Nneka Ogwumike combined for 45 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 2 block shots to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to a 92-75 victory over the Minnesota Lynx in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals at Galen Center.  The win gives the Sparks a 2-1 lead in the Best of 5 game series and a chance to close out the Lynx in front of their fans on Sunday in Los Angeles for Game 4.

The Sparks lead the entire game with leads as much as 22 points in the first half.  The Lynx made a couple of runs to bring them within 8 points, but could never get closer as the Sparks played an aggressive 40 minute game on both ends of the court in front of the home crowd and owner, Ervin Magic Johnson!  The Sparks shot an impressive 55% from the field compared to the Lynx's 48% from the perimeter.

A quiet candidate for WNBA Finals MVP, Alana Beard lead a tenacious Sparks defense in the first half forcing the Lynx into double digit turnovers and sloppy offensive possessions. Beard also filled up the stat sheet with 15 points on 7-11 shooting, seven assists, four rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.  Beard has played the most consistent of all the players in the WNBA Finals thus far and is looking to have another Cannamazing game on Sunday in Los Angeles!

The Minnesota Lynx started the game flat and could never recover in Game 3.  Superstars, Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus combined for a total of 15 shots from the field to score only 9 points each.  Sylvia Fowles and Rebekkah Brunson led the Lynx with 14 points each. Sylvia Fowles also had five impressive blocks in the lopsided loss.

Game 4 will be played on Sunday in Los Angeles at 8:30 EST/5:30 PST on ESPN.
