WNBA Game 2: Lynx Soar Past Sparks

The WNBA Finals resumed last night in Minnesota as the Lynx laid down the Los Angeles Sparks 79-60 to tie the best of 5 series at 1-1. The Lynx jumped out of the gate early with aggressive play on both ends of the court.  All-Stars, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles exploded for a double-double for the Lynx.  Moore's game high 21 points plus 12 boards helped set the tone for the Lynx who lead by 14 points at halftime.  Fowles chipped in 13 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and anchored a tough defense that forced the Sparks into a poor shooting night. Seimone Augustus turned around her poor Game 1 stats into a double digit performance with 14 points on 6-12 from the field. Rebekkah Brunson was the fourth Lynx to score double digits contributing 10 points and eight rebounds.

Although down by 14 points at halftime, the Sparks opened the third quarter with a run to come within 3 points, but could never get any closer.  Candace Parker struggled the entire game finishing with just 6 points.  The Sparks only had two players score double digits in Game 2. Nneka Ogwumike contributed a double-double, 14 points with 12 off the glass while Alana Beard added 13 points.  The Sparks connected on just 23-70 field goal attempts in Game 2.

The series shifts to the west coast on Friday, October 14th for Game 3 at 9pm EST on ESPN2 from Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
