Similarities Between Empire & The Haves & Have Nots

It's amazing some of the similarities in hot televison/cable series Empire and the Haves and the Have Nots.  One of the most notable is both shows have introduced the gay African American male to the world!

It was obvious the approach TP has taken to introduce the African American gay male falling in love with a Caucasian gay male. The Caucasian gay male had to be raped by a man in prison to have his first experience of two men engaging in sex.  Although it is a rude way to introduce anyone to homosexuality!  Why did the guy in prison have to be an African American heterosexual male with such a negative overtone to his character rather than a Caucasian heterosexual male with the same overtone?

The African American heterosexual man in prison, raper portrayed in the Haves and the Have Nots is the type of male society depicts of the African American heterosexual male in general.  Unless the African American male is gay, he is seen as a threat to society in many cases...while the gay African American male is seen by society as a more gentle man.  Of course, there are exceptions for the male athletes and entertainers.  Crazy, huh?

The upcoming script for the Haves and the Have Nots is swaying to the gay brother finally hooking up with the newly transformed white male son of the Governor which will send the families into a whole new tail wind!  Governor's wife will blame the Governor for her only son becoming gay because of his father trying to teach him a lesson by arranging him a few days in prison.

The character, Crazy Veronica is going to loose it when her son finally gets his dream lover, Wyatt!

Oh yeah, TP is about to shake it all up!

The African American gay male in the series Empire has a different demeanor... I look forward to dissecting the Empire series season 2 starting in just a few weeks!

Are there similarities between the two shows because both show's creators are or have experienced the gay lifestyle and/or bi-sexual life styles?  Or is it just a coincidence the creators have strong similar writing styles...similar thoughts?  Interesting, huh?
